In May of 2021 we put on MG Big Band/Eraser Description Jazz Flip Vol. 2 at COMA. For this show I arranged six new arrangements from Eraser’s second album Waves. In September of that year we went back into the studio to record the new tunes, the third album in the space of two years. Thanks to all the lessons learned from the previous two recording experiences, as well as some absolute engineering wizardry from Jarrad Payne at Wizard Tone Studios, the album came out sounding slicker and more refined than the previous two. The tunes on Eraser’s Waves albums also were much more exploratory with meters and keys than their previous material, making for some fun problem solving and decision making in the arranging process. Max Grynchuk Big Band Plays Eraser Description Vol. II was launched at The Gov on August 11th 2022.
